University Initiative
The NABEF University Initiative is a two-year fellowship program for college students with an interest in four core areas of broadcast: news, technology, programming and sales. The program is designed to provide students with information through education, hands-on training through internships and leadership development that will prepare them for an entry-level position in electronic media. Freedom of Speech PSA Contest
Each year, NABEF challenges America's college communications students to create public service announcements for radio and television that highlight the importance of free speech. This national competition is presented in partnership with the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) and with funding by the McCormick Foundation. Students from colleges and universities across the country come up with creative ways to remind us of the importance of this fundamental freedom and to celebrate the founding principles of our country. Winning entries are distributed to radio and television stations to air at their discretion. Student winners are awarded scholarships.
